Seats at the Table
A masthead is the short list printed in a magazine that tells readers who puts each issue together. Ours is short indeed. MF Gambling Services is written and checked by three people who publish under pen names. We use pen names because the work is about the subject, not about us, and because none of us wants a byline to suggest an authority we do not have. None of us is a licensed adviser, a counsellor or an industry insider, and we never present ourselves as one.
Who does what
Sabeline Marrick, slots and game design
Sabeline writes most of what the site publishes about slot machines: how features such as cascades and multipliers work, why themes and sound are designed the way they are, and how volatility changes the feel of a session. Her rule of thumb is that any feature should be explained by what it does to the money, not by how exciting it looks on the screen.
Orrin Brannock, bets and prices
Orrin handles the Bet Types Explained section and most sports and esports pieces. He is the one who insists that each worked example adds up, that prices are invented rather than borrowed from a live market, and that every article shows the margin in plain numbers. His pieces on the vig and teaser bets are good examples of that habit.
Ignatia Quillon, rules and safer play
Ignatia reads every draft last. She follows how rules on online gambling differ between countries, looks after Playing It Safe and checks that no sentence anywhere on the site reads like a promise. When an article needs a line reminding readers to check local law, she is the one who makes sure it is there and that it is not buried.
How we work together
- A plain question first. Each article starts from something a newcomer might actually type into a search box, such as what a prop bet is or why a chain of wins can still lose money.
- A draft built on mechanics. The writer explains how the thing works before saying anything about why people enjoy it.
- A second reader. Another member of the team checks the arithmetic, the settlement rules and the tone.
- A last look for pressure. Anything that nudges a reader toward betting more, faster or bigger is cut.
What the masthead does not do
We do not take bets, hold accounts or handle deposits, and we do not offer personal advice about anyone's gambling. We cannot tell you whether a particular operator is legal where you live; local regulators and official registers are the right place for that. If you have a question about an article, a correction or an idea for a topic, the three of us share one inbox, which you can reach through the contact page.
On signing with pen names
Three writers, no titles
We sign our work with pen names because the explanations should stand on their own. A grand-sounding byline would add authority we have not earned.
What we do promise is care: every sum in every example is worked twice, by two different people, before it reaches you.
